September – a month like any other, but different in its own way.
Priceless time for all of us, vintners and winemakers, where HARVEST is the secret code word. The ritual we anticipate all year, yet it passes in what feels like seconds.
It was a hot August, but despite that, the ripening of the grapes was delayed by about a week. During the autumn edition of the 4×4, we discovered the harvest in Sakar.
We had planned to enter the vineyards of ROSALEA on September 4th, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen due to the arrival of unfavorable weather forecasts. Our rows in the village of Shishmanovo were soaked by thousands of liters of torrential rain. We decided to take it as a good sign – water will be in our favor!
Whether cliché or not, the rain loves to give way to the sun.
With small, amber-colored Chardonnay grapes, we began on September 7th – their time had come!
On the early, fresh morning of September 8th, we welcomed the day with a glass of ROSALEA Rosé 2022 and homemade bread.
‘You can tell the day by the morning,’ someone once said. And indeed, how fruitful this day turned out to be!
The traditional annual team-building of the Pontech teams from Bulgaria and Romania took place. The vineyards of Rosalea welcomed the group of 12 pickers and guests, supported by our strike team. Unfiltered enthusiasm and a great mood filled these rows, and together we harvested Syrah and Rubin for rosé!
Unrelenting labor bubbles through all the months leading up to the harvest. You understand how a sweet burst of happiness envelops us when holding in our hands those heavy, ripe clusters, don’t you?
The joy multiplies with the multiplication of the crates, with their transfer to the bus, with their journey to the winery…
The chief oenologist of ROSALEA described this year’s harvest as follows:
“Cheerful chatter and laughter echoed between the rows, and we effortlessly carried the heavy crates on our shoulders.”
